When someone steals your Instagram/WhatsApp, they don't just post — they scam YOUR friends using YOUR trust. Recovery is slow and humiliating.
Lock everything down tonight (30 minutes total):
- WhatsApp: Settings → Account → Two-step verification → set PIN + recovery email
- Instagram/Facebook: Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication (use an authenticator app)
- Email: your email is the master key — strongest password + 2FA here first
- Check "Linked devices"/"Active sessions" everywhere; log out unknown ones
How hijacks happen:
- "Vote for me" contest links asking your phone number + WhatsApp code
- Fake login pages from bio links ("free followers")
- QR codes claiming to be "WhatsApp Web setup" from strangers
- Password reuse from leaked sites
