If someone threatens to expose photos/chats of you
This is called sextortion. It is a serious crime under PECA Section 21 (up to 5 years prison + Rs 5M fine for the criminal). Victims in Pakistan often suffer in silence because of shame — that silence is exactly what criminals count on.
The ONLY response that works:
- STOP responding. Do not plead, do not negotiate, do not pay. Payment marks you as a payer — demands multiply.
- PRESERVE everything. Screenshots of threats, profile URLs, numbers, transaction records. Do NOT delete — evidence is your shield.
- Block on all platforms.
- TELL one trusted adult — parent, older sibling, teacher. Yes it's terrifying. But every victim who told an adult survived this; those who stayed silent kept paying.
- Report to NCCIA: 1799 or complaint.nccia.gov.pk — handled confidentially, women officers available. They have taken down blackmail rings using exactly these reports.
Truth bombs:
- Edited/AI-generated images are increasingly common — even fully fake ones are still a crime to threaten with
- Your reputation is NOT destroyed by reporting; it's destroyed by paying
- The criminal is scared of NCCIA, not of you. Use the system.
