Know your threat landscape
NCCIA data shows women are disproportionately targeted by four scam families:
1. Fake work-from-home jobs — "ladies-only typing/review work, Rs 40,000/month" but with a "refundable" Rs 3,000–8,000 security deposit + CNIC photos. The deposit never returns; your CNIC opens fake SIMs and accounts.
2. The fake courier OTP call — the #1 WhatsApp hijack method in Pakistan, specifically reported as targeting women at home. "Parcel pending — share the verification code." That code is your WhatsApp account. Hijacked accounts then beg money from your entire contact list in YOUR name.
3. Romance/marriage scams — "overseas officer/doctor" profiles building trust for weeks, then customs fees, medical emergencies, ticket money. Real proposals come through families with verifiable identity — not secret WhatsApp romances requesting transfers.
4. Knockoff shopping pages — aesthetic Instagram stores (comments disabled, bank-transfer only, stolen photos). Reverse-image-search before any advance.
